Trump Urges Spy Agencies To Lay Off Russia And Focus On Threat Posed By Actresses

NEW YORK (The Borowitz Report)—In an emergency meeting at Trump Tower on Monday morning, President-elect Donald J. Trump urged the heads of the nation’s intelligence agencies to “stop picking on Russia” and instead focus on “the very real threat” posed by Hollywood actresses.
Calling the recent allegations against Russia a “witch hunt,” Trump told the intelligence chiefs that their investigations of Russian President Vladimir Putin were distracting them from “America’s real enemy, actresses.”
Growing increasingly irate, he laid out a series of proposals for dealing with what he called a “scourge,” including mandatory registration of actresses and a temporary ban on actresses entering the country.
Additionally, he said that the flow of actresses could be “cut off at the source” by having F.B.I. agents infiltrate improv classes.
“Nothing should be taken off the table,” Trump reportedly said.
The President-elect also complained that, under President Barack Obama, actresses have been allowed to operate with impunity. “Barack Obama is basically the founder of actresses,” he said.

"Russia Bans Meryl Streep Movies"

MOSCOW (The Borowitz Report)—In a sweeping act of official censorship, the Russian government has banned all Meryl Streep movies from the country, effective immediately.

Moviegoers at Moscow’s Kinoteatr 16 movieplex were taken aback on Monday night when government agents stormed the projection booth and seized a copy of “Florence Foster Jenkins,” the 2016 Streep film that was unspooling.

But the full force of the ban was not felt until Tuesday morning, when the Ministry of Internal Affairs ordered police to go door to door, confiscating Streep DVDs from Russian citizens.

“I was terrified,” Vasily Dmitrovic, who lives in St. Petersburg, said. “They broke down my door. My wife was screaming. They would not leave until I handed over ‘Mamma Mia!’”

In an appearance on state television, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered no reason for the ban, other than to say that Streep was “overrated.”

Thanks for your reply. It is completely sensible - Israel "buys" its U.S. lobbying power "on the open market."

However, Israel only ranks 35th in gross national product, a fact that makes me doubt their financial clout. (Notably, Israel receives twice as much foreign aid as "second place" Egypt although currently, Afghanistan's unique circumstances make it #1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_foreign_aid)

On the other hand, our neighbor Hal Crowther once wrote -- and I paraphrase: "The most notable trait of American politicians is how cheaply they sell themselves - chump change does the trick." A musing...

It is painfully evident that Putin worked for Trump's election in order to advance the legitimization of world-wide neo-fascist clamp-down. 

I wonder if Netanyahu (who loathes Obama) would not have seen the same advantage accruing from Trump's election -- and given the genius of the Israel's intel-spy apparatus -- also meddled "behind the scenes." 

Which begs this question... If Israeli meddling did take place, would the CIA and FBI (both ruled -- now and traditionally -- by Republicans) tell Americans about "friendly" Israel's intervention as they told us about designated enemy Vladimir Putin? 

I realize that this kind of Byzantine speculation finally leads nowhere but, even so, such musing bolsters the already crystalline argument against The Military-Industrial State and how capitalist profiteers (Trump "chief" among them) determine the actual thrust of plutocracy while those of us who like "the idea of democracy" are increasingly aware that American anti-intellectualism insures an uninformed electorate that will, at every turn, do the bidding of overlords like The Plutopath Himself. 


Alan: The irony of this quotation is that conservatives see it as justification for authoritarian clampdown - one very definition of "suicide" by a "nation of free men."

The hard, central "fact" of contemporary "conservatism" is its insistence on a socio-economic threshold above which people deserve government assistance, and below which people deserve to die. 

The sooner the better. 

Unless conservatives are showing n'er-do-wells The Door of Doom, they just don't "feel right."
