This Pepperbox Pistol is the kind used by Mormon "Prophet" Joseph Smith to try to kill people during his last moment of life.
Smith shot all six barrels by reaching around a door and shooting blindly into a crowd without knowing whom he was firing at.
"On June 27, 1844, an armed mob with blackened faces stormed Carthage Jail where Joseph and Hyrum were being held.[265] Hyrum Smith (Joseph Smith's brother), who was trying to secure the door, was killed instantly with a shot to the face.[266] Smith fired a pepper-box pistol, then sprang for the window.[267]" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Smith
Even if religious "prophets" should use firearms to attempt killing people in self-defense, Joseph Smith knew his weapon could not have held back the mob that was coming for him.
Smith would have improved his chances for survival had he not delayed his departure with futile attempts at armed resistance but instead had chosen to lower himself from the second story window in whose frame he was fatally shot while belatedly trying to escape.
By way of parallel, it is notable that Jesus of Nazareth, when confronting capture, eschewed an opportunity escape through use of force, instead encouraging ever-zealous Peter to put his drawn sword back in its sheath.
"By their fruits you shall know them."
