Paul McCartney has lent his voice to a new video on the conditions in slaughterhouses for the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta).

The 67-year-old former Beatle and committed vegetarian narrates the 13-minute video called Glass Walls, which raises awareness about animals being tortured in slaughterhouses and the poor working conditions of the workers in them.
"If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be vegetarian," McCartney says.
He explains how animals "endure almost unimaginable suffering" over visuals of cows, pigs and chicken being killed in slaughterhouses.
The video also refers to a recent UN report which claims eating meat contributes to global warming by generating up to 40 per cent more greenhouse gases.
The singer ends with a plea for everyone to stop eating meat: "Eating meat is bad for our health. It's bad for the environment and it directly supports appalling cruelty to animals. The decision is yours. Please make the compassionate choice."
McCartney was recently in the European Parliament in Brussels promoting his 'Meat-Free Mondays' campaign and met with Rajendra K. Pachauri, head of the UN's global climate change panel. The campaign calls for a meat-free start to the week.
