American Women In The 1950s... And Utah Women Today

Dear Fred,

Earlier today, while walking up the steps of Immaculata Catholic Church (in Durham, North Carolina), a Dad was walking down them, clasping a baby in his right arm.

He was also holding the hand of a 5 year old girl walking alongside.

"You know, honey," he said to her, "You can become a race car driver!"

I just searched Google Images for "Women in the 1950s."

Here are a few results:

Sexism aside, it is remarkable how capitalism promotes the degradation of culture.
For "Wonder Bread" to claim "No Other Bread Is So Delicious!" helped co-found the lineage of The National Lunacy
complete with pithed babblers on Faux News and a cast of right-wing radio hosts
to make Lucifer seem a buttoned-down spokesman for the ACLU.
Such fulminating falsehood is as unhinged as declaring Barack HUSSEIN Obama a Kenyan-born Muslim socialist,
anti-American, job-killing quisling, whose anti-Christ mission is to surrender the United States
to a One World Government headed by Arab sheiks.

"The Death of Epistemology"

The article above may be a latter-day creation.
That said, none of its content contradicts my understanding of the 1950s which is the decade I "grew up" in.

"Utah's Dark Reality: The Shadow Side Of Mormonism"
Excerpt: "Eli-Lilly dispenses 62% more Prozac in Utah than any other state.  More Utahns take Prozac-style drugs than in any other state, according to a study conducted in June of 2001 by Express Scripts, a pharmacy benefit management firm.  [8] The study indicated that Utah residents average 1.1 prescriptions per person per year of medications such as Prozac, Zoloft, and Paxil. The national average is 0.7."

Utah ranks high in indices of rape, murder and suicide - and of all 50 states - highest for clinically depressed women.

The "official story" -- like the "official story" of the 1950s -- would have us believe that Utah never departed The Golden Age.
