      Specifically, consumer-unit stupefaction means that anything resembling responsible citizenship has been replaced by dimwitted grasping after self-centered pleasure with little to no consideration for "The Common Good,""The General Welfare" or a truly social "Social Contract."
      
      Increasingly, we are ruled by the informal motto of The Republlican Party: "We Are All In This.... Alone."
